A Somerset waste business with deep roots

Westcombe Waste has been part of the landscape at Somerton for nearly four decades. Today it is a focused operation built on one fully permitted site and a team that knows the trade.

Our story

From Westcombe Farms to Westcombe Waste

The business was incorporated in December 1987 as Westcombe Farms Limited, a family concern on the land at Westcombe, just outside Somerton. As the area’s need for a local, properly licensed waste outlet grew, so did the site.

A waste transfer station licence was granted in 1995, the company took the Westcombe Waste name in 1999, and in 2006 the Environment Agency issued the environmental permit that still governs the landfill today. For many years the site also ran a well-known skip hire fleet across Somerset; that business was sold on, and from 2017 to 2025 the site operated as part of a Bristol-based recycling group.

In November 2025 the business changed hands and a new director took the helm. The focus since then has been simple: run Westcombe to the highest standard of compliance, look after the customers who depend on the site, and make dealing with us as easy as possible.

  • 05

    Monitoring & testing

Groundwater, surface water, leachate and gas are monitored and independently tested, with results reported to the Environment Agency.

  • 06

The flag of Somerset: a red dragon on a gold field

Somerset, through and through

Westcombe has been part of the land at Somerton since 1987. Our customers are Somerset skip firms, MRFs and contractors, and the waste they bring us is dealt with here in the county rather than being hauled halfway across the country.
