Paperwork done properly, every load
Under the Environmental Protection Act 1990 everyone in the chain has a duty of care for their waste. We make our part of that easy to evidence.
- Weighbridge records showing date, vehicle, waste description and net weight.
- Waste transfer documentation — season tickets for regular customers, individual notes for one-off loads.
- Pre-acceptance checks so the waste description matches what arrives at the weighbridge.
- Records kept in line with permit conditions and available to customers on request.
Refused at the weighbridge
- 01Hazardous waste of any kind, including asbestos
- 02Liquid wastes
- 03Whole or shredded tyres
- 04Loads without the correct description or transfer documentation
If you are unsure how a waste should be classified, ask us before you load it. We would rather help you get it right.
How the site is regulated
Westcombe is regulated by the Environment Agency under the Environmental Permitting (England and Wales) Regulations. In practice that means:
- 01
Permit conditions
Our single consolidated environmental permit sets out the waste types we can accept, how the transfer station and landfill are engineered and operated, and how leachate and gas are managed.
- 02
Monitoring and reporting
Groundwater, surface water, leachate and gas are monitored on a set schedule, independently analysed and reported to the regulator.
- 03
Inspection
The Environment Agency inspects permitted sites and publishes decisions on permit variations; consultation documents are available on its website.
Frequently asked
Can you take hazardous waste or asbestos?
No. Westcombe is permitted for non-hazardous waste only. If you have hazardous material we can point you towards suitably permitted facilities.
Do I need to provide a waste transfer note?
Yes — every movement of controlled waste needs a transfer note or an equivalent season ticket. We will make sure the documentation is in place when your account is set up.
Will you test my trommel fines?
Where testing is required to confirm a waste is suitable for the site we will tell you at the pre-acceptance stage and explain what is needed.
How do I verify your permits?
Use the links on this page. The Environment Agency public registers and Companies House are official sources and are updated directly by the regulators.
